Human - the standard species, average in all aptitudes.

High Elf - a tall, beautiful species of elf, with many enhanced aptitudes.

Deep Elf - An underground species of elf, smaller and weaker than others, but with greater magical ability.

Sludge Elf - an ugly, degenerate elf species which is better at the magic that most elves shun, such as necromancy and transmigration.

Mummy - a corpse wrapped in bandages, and animated by necromancy.

Ghoul - a terrible undead corpse which must eat the flesh of others to maintain its life force.

The choice of species affects several important characteristics, in particular the speed at which you learn different skills and the choice of character classes.
