And I also studied at Universidade Federal do RioGrande do Sul as an visiting student from April 2001 to January 2002. To explore in detail on the process of how Japanese Brazilian dancers hybridize Yosakoi Soran, Japanese popular dance performance, related to self-expression, I conducted fieldwork in São Paulo and Paraná in August of 2003 to May of 2004, again from May to July of 2004, and again in July of 2005, where I researched 4 groups in São Paulo, 3 in several other cities of the State of São Paulo and 2 in the State of Paraná.
