Research field:
I am researching about Brazilian migrants of Japanese ancestry interacting within the Roman Catholic Church in the Kanto region of Japan. I am conducting fieldwork and interviews among the migrants who attend mass (religious service) at several Roman Catholic parishes in Saitama, Ibaraki, Gunma, Chiba and Tokyo. The goal of my research is to identify the strategies of identity formation and negotiation of Brazilians of Japanese ancestry in terms of religious beliefs, gender issues and ethnic/racial identifications.
