001:2センチメートル
There was two centimeters more left till his fingers could touch the edge of the wall. Two very insignificant centimeters, that mattered.
"Oi!"
"What."
"A little higher!"
"... you know, why not you come down and-"
"Shut up. We've checked just now, I'm weaker than you are. Come on. A bit more of a boost."
There was a bit of cursing from the other teen. And then a grunt.
Two centimeters more, upwards. His fingers grabbed for the edge, fixed themselves firmly into the one final obstacle he had in front of him. The support beneath him gave way, and his feet fell. But his fingers caught in the edge and in one smooth movement, he shoved himself upwards. Scrambling up so he could balance on the thin platform.
Now all he had to do was drop down.
Kale grinned happily. It was always much easier when someone else was there to help push you up. The climb was faster and more efficient. He wasn't always as lucky. Mainly because there weren't that many people who came late for school, and those who helped him once never did want to help him again, because they all knew what Kale did once he reached the top.
He jumped over and left you outside the school gates, cursing.
Sad for this newcomer (at least, Kale thought it was a new face), that was probably going to happen for him too...
"Oi."
Months later, Kale would curse that moment when he turned around.
Turned around to an outstretched hand, and a blank look thrown his way. Kale paused, heisitated for a moment, and thought of the two centimeters.
There wasn't that much of an insignificant distance when he extended his hand and helped pulled the other up, with much difficulty.
