このページは TommyP's HFSLIP の Basic howto を日本語訳してみたものです。（インデックスは勝手に追加しました。）
意訳を試みていることもあり、オリジナルの直訳とは異なると思いますが予めご了承ください。
ただし、原則、オリジナルに従った内容に留め、まとめは別に作成します。

知っておくべき重要なこと

Media Player 11 を Windows XP Professional に統合

HFSLIP はWindows Media Player 11 を Windows XP Professional に統合できます、
しかし、マイクロソフトのサーバからダウンロードしたインストーラはDOSからは解凍できません。
そのため、7-zipやWinRARのような解凍ソフトを使用してあらかじめインストーラを抽出しておく必要があります。
抽出したインストーラはWMP11という名前でHFフォルダに入れる必要があります。
もしあなたが望むのなら，この操作はHFフォルダで行うことも出来ます．WMP11の実行可能ファイルをHFフォルダに残しておくことも出来ます．
実行可能なWMP11のファイルはHFSLIPによって遮断されます．

A problem within the Microsoft Out-Of-Box-Experience (MSOOBE) application causes Windows setup to not display the post-install wizard in which you enter your usernames, set up the Windows Firewall, register with Microsoft, etc., among a few other issues, when WMP11 is slipstreamed. To work around this, you can download and include WindowsXP-KB898543-v3-x86-ENU.exe into the HF folder. Downsides of this MSOOBE hotfix:

• it is only available in English, so it will cause the text "Please wait..." to be displayed below the big Windows logo during the final reboot of Windows setup
• it is only compatible with Windows XP Professional, so Windows XP Home Edition users cannot slipstream WMP11

KB894871 also updates the MSOOBE application. It exists for other languages, but it is a non-public hotfix: you have to call Microsoft to get it. It has been unverified whether or not this update is compatible with Windows XP Home Edition.

Updates and hotfixes that don't apply to WMP11: HMTCDWizard_xxx.exe, MP10Setup.exe, wmfdist95.exe, wmcsetup.exe and Media9/10 hotfixes.
